Defense manufacturers need suppliers that can not only meet demanding part requirements, but also stay consistent and reliable for long-term programs. At Focused on Machining, we’ve built our operation around that work.
Our 5-axis machining, experience with challenging materials, and CMMC Level 2 compliance make us a great fit for recurring defense programs with complex parts.
A Fit for a Range of Programs
There’s no one type of defense component that fits our shop’s capabilities. Instead, if your part fits a few key criteria, we know we’re a great match.
Here’s one example: aluminum housings for guidance systems are one type of defense component we’ve produced. These parts bring together several requirements that align with our capabilities:
5-Axis Capabilities for Complex Geometry
Our 5-axis machining gives us the ability to produce intricate features with efficiency. Our team has a deep understanding of our equipment and plans machining strategies that make full use of its capabilities. Our experience lets us create a strong production process for every part.
Expertise in Aluminum and Other Metals
We handle a wide variety of materials in our defense work, and aluminum is one of our specialties.
We work with a variety of aluminum alloys and understand how their machining characteristics differ. Years of experience have given us a deep understanding of speeds and feeds; we know how to remove material quickly without risking scrap.
Careful Control of Tight Tolerances
Guidance system housings can require precise dimensions and closely controlled relationships between features. Our equipment and attention to detail support the tight tolerance machining these components require. We evaluate the drawing and tolerances when reviewing a project so we can identify the machining demands before production begins.
CMMC Level 2 Compliance for Defense Work
Machining capability is essential to success as a defense supplier, but certifications and cybersecurity requirements also affect which shops can take on a program.
Focused on Machining is CMMC Level 2 compliant. We’ve spent years preparing our operation for CMMC requirements, so we’re now ready well ahead of any deadlines.
In addition to our CMMC status, we’re also AS9100 Rev. D certified, ITAR registered, and certified as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business.
Consistent Production and Material Supply
Our focus is long-term, repeat CNC production machining for defense and aerospace primes, with recurring production typically ranging from 30 to 50 parts per batch. And beyond aluminum, we also work with stainless steel and challenging materials such as Inconel. That range allows us to evaluate defense components with different material and performance requirements.
Material availability and stability are especially important in a recurring program. We have close relationships and long-term agreements with material vendors to reduce supply chain risk. Those relationships let us plan dependably for ongoing work and remain a reliable supplier for your program.
Discuss Your Recurring Work
As defense needs continue to grow in the United States, missile defense programs like the Golden Dome are a perfect example of the type of program our capabilities are built around. Above all, the fit comes down to the individual component: its geometry, material, required tolerances, and production schedule.
